CHAPTER EIGHTEEN : THE NATIONAL
We really really really like The National. So when we found out that they were in London for two nights, it became our quest to put them in the back of a cab. We badgered and bothered but in fact all we really needed to do was speak to a wonderful lady from beggars called Annette. You know how very occasionally you come across these rare peeps who are just so brilliant at being nice human beings? Well that's true about the lovely Annette. If this all sounds a little like we're brown-nosing, then that's possibly because we are a bit. But only a wee teeny tiny bit. The rest of it is straight from the heart because not only did she wangle us access to the band for the session, but she also gave us, drum roll please, free tickets and backstage passes for the gig afterwards. woop woop. And she even sends us free cds now and again. Woop Woop. How nice is all that? The answer is it's really nice. So Annette Lee from Beggars, we salute you. Oh yeah, The National were really really really good, but you can hear all that for yourself. You might not be able to see much though. it's the blackest black cab yet. Dark, mysterious, moody. And it's also pretty apt for a song that was the b-side of the 'lit up' single.
